How to Make Authentic Akple
🥣 Classic Akple Method:
- Mix 2 cups of Duaba Afro Foods Akple Maize Meal Flour with cold water in a bowl — stir thoroughly until completely smooth with no lumps
- Bring water to a boil in a heavy-bottomed pot with a pinch of salt
- Add a portion of the cold flour mixture to the boiling water — stir continuously to prevent lumps from forming
- Continue adding the remaining flour mixture gradually while stirring vigorously with a wooden spoon
- Reduce heat to medium-low and continue stirring consistently — the mixture will begin to thicken and pull away from the sides of the pot
- Keep stirring for 15–20 minutes until the Akple is smooth, firm, and comes away cleanly from the pot
- Using a wet wooden spoon, shape into balls or mounds and serve immediately
