Mogo Chips Cassava Fries – 1kg | Peeled & Ready-to-Cook Cassava Chips | Naturally Gluten-Free | East African & West African Staple

The cassava fries that East Africa, West Africa, and South Asia all agree on — crispy, starchy, and deeply satisfying 🇬🇧

Mogo is a root vegetable that we also know as cassava or yuca — starchy and fibrous, and therefore usually boiled first before being fried. It is one of those rare ingredients that transcends cultural boundaries — the Kenyan Asian community calls it Mogo and deep fries it with masala spices. The Ghanaian community calls it cassava and boils it alongside soup. The Nigerian community calls it yuca and makes it into a dozen different dishes. The Congolese community calls it manioc and ferments it into Chikwangue. But everyone agrees on one thing — when it is cut into chips, fried until golden and crispy, and served hot with a sauce, it is one of the most satisfying things you can eat. Beto Cosmetics

Mogo Chips Cassava Fries 1kg brings you peeled, pre-cut cassava chips — ready to cook in minutes. No peeling. No preparation. Just open, cook, and enjoy.

The Ingredient

🌿 Cassava (Manihot esculenta / Yuca / Mogo / Manioc) — whole cassava root, peeled and cut into thick chip/fry shapes. Cassava is a starchy tropical root vegetable native to South America but deeply embedded in the food cultures of West Africa, East Africa, the Caribbean, and South and South-East Asia. Naturally gluten-free, low in fat, and naturally rich in complex carbohydrates — cassava chips deliver a satisfyingly dense, starchy, slightly chewy result when cooked that is distinctly different from and deeply more satisfying than standard potato fries.

Nutritional Highlights

Rich in complex carbohydrates — a sustaining, energy-giving staple ✅ Good source of dietary fibre — supports healthy digestion ✅ Contains Potassium and Magnesium — essential minerals from whole cassava root ✅ Contains Vitamin C — from fresh cassava root ✅ Naturally low in fat — cassava is naturally fat-free before cooking ✅ Naturally gluten-free — cassava contains no gluten ✅ Naturally vegan — 100% plant-based ✅ No artificial additives, no preservatives ✅ Pre-peeled and pre-cut — convenient, zero preparation needed ✅ Generous 1kg pack — excellent value for families and batch cooking

How to Cook

🍳 Classic Fried Mogo (Deep Fried):

  1. Boil the cassava chips in salted water for 20–25 minutes until tender but not falling apart — this step is essential for crispy results
  2. Drain thoroughly and pat dry with kitchen paper — removing moisture is the key to crispiness
  3. Deep fry in hot oil (180°C) for 4–6 minutes until golden, crispy, and beautifully caramelised on the outside
  4. Drain on kitchen paper, season with salt, and serve immediately

🌶️ Masala Mogo (East African Style): After frying, toss the hot chips in a spiced masala sauce — crushed tomatoes, cumin, coriander, chilli, and lemon. The signature dish of East African Asian cooking — described as “like the best fries EVER” Beto Cosmetics

🔥 Oven Baked: Boil until tender, drain, toss with oil and your preferred seasonings, and bake at 200°C for 25–30 minutes turning once — for a lighter, less oily result

🥘 Boiled with Soup: Add directly to any West African soup or stew during the last 20–25 minutes of cooking for a hearty, filling addition — particularly excellent in Light Soup, Groundnut Soup, or Pepper Soup

Serve With 🌶️ Masala sauce | Shito | Fresh pepper sauce | Fried fish | Garlic mayonnaise | Chilli sauce | Any West African soup or stew
