Labadi Kenkey takes its name from La Labadi — one of Accra’s most beloved coastal neighbourhoods, home to some of Ghana’s finest and most authentic Kenkey makers. This is Ga Kenkey the real way — fermented corn dough, cooked until firm and deeply flavoured, wrapped and ready to heat and serve.

- 🌽 Fermented White Corn Dough — whole white maize, naturally fermented using the traditional Ga method that gives Kenkey its characteristic mildly sour, tangy, deeply earthy flavour — the flavour that no dry mix or powder can fully replicate. The fermentation process develops the corn’s natural complexity and makes the dough significantly more digestible than unfermented corn

How to Heat
🫙 In boiling water (recommended): Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Place the Kenkey balls (in their wrapping) into the boiling water. Heat for 15 minutes until thoroughly warmed through. Remove, unwrap, and serve immediately
🍽️ In the microwave: Remove the outer wrapping. Place on a microwave-safe plate. Heat on medium setting for 4–5 minutes until piping hot throughout. Check and turn halfway through. Allow to stand for 1 minute before serving
How to Serve
Kenkey is traditionally served whole — break off pieces with your fingers and dip or pair with your chosen accompaniments. The slightly sour flavour of Kenkey is the perfect counterpart to the bold heat of fresh pepper sauce and the richness of fried or smoked fish.
